Front Desk Volunteers

A front desk volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the House, as well as promoting a friendly, open environment with the residents. The volunteer reports directly to the Volunteer Coordinator, but will work with all staff members to ensure that the needs of our families are consistently met.

  • Front desk volunteers must be 18 years of age or older
  • Front desk volunteers work a four-hour shift on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or as-needed basis
  • Shift times are 9 a.m. -1 p.m., 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., and 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., seven days per week.
  • Front desk volunteers support the families and staff by performing such duties as office assistance, assisting with the needs of the families, and many other activities which truly help make the Ronald McDonald House a home-away-from home for our families.

Please note that all front desk volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation and agree to a standard background check before volunteering.

Special Event Volunteers

Special event volunteers assist at various fundraisers and other events that are sponsored by or benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis. Most events take place on the evenings and weekends and include such events as the Rock 103 Ronald McDonald House Radiothon and the Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival.  Special Event volunteers help make each event a success by promoting the mission of the House in the community and helping us to raise much-needed donations.

Group Volunteers

Activities & Group Volunteers plan and execute activities for the Ronald McDonald House residents. Such activities include cooking and serving meals, craft activities, game nights, and other fun activities that provide entertainment and recreation for the families.  Find out more about hosting a group activity!

RMHC Ambassadors

Ambassadors are responsible for speaking on behalf of the House and creating community awareness of our mission via speaking engagements and community and organization fairs.  Ambassadors are trained to speak to different groups and organizations, and also staff informational tables at volunteer/job fairs and other community events.

Professional Service Volunteers

These volunteers donate their time and professional services to the Ronald McDonald House.  These services may include, but are not limited to, graphic design and layout, website maintenance, and a variety of other services.  Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator to find out more information about donating your professional services.
