Pop Tabs
Our Pop Tab Program is taking Ronald McDonald House Charities ® by storm! That little tab that you use to open your soda makes a BIG difference at Ronald McDonald House Charities ® of Memphis (RMHC of Memphis). Collect Pop Tabs at home, work, school, church or in your community organization, then drop the tabs off at Ronald McDonald House (535 Alabama Ave. - Memphis, TN 38105) and we'll be happy to recycle them for you. If you live out of town, you may also recycle the tabs yourself and donate the profits to the House.
In 2009, RMHC of Memphis received nearly $14,000 from Pop Tabs alone
Tabs are donated from individuals, schools, clubs and businesses
The average weekly amount brought in by Pop Tabs is $250
How did the Pop Tab Program start? - RMHC of Memphis began collecting Pop Tabs in the summer of 2000. Thanks to River City Metals we are able to recycle the Pop Tabs in exchange for money.
Where does the money go? - RMHC of Memphis receives approximately 35 – 45 cents per pound of Pop Tabs, depending on the current price of aluminum. Money raised through this program goes directly into our yearly operating budget.
How can I collect Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House? - You can collect your tabs in any way you would like – in coffee cans, plastic baggies, boxes, etc. Put THIS flyer up at your school, workplace, or any other place you can think of to help spread the word about Ronald McDonald House. Once you’ve collected the Pop Tabs, simply bring them to Ronald McDonald House and we will take them to the recycler. If you live out of town, you can mail them to us or take them to your local recycler and send us the money you receive. Remember, every little bit helps!
